The True Food Community Co-operative (TFC) recognises that a sound ethical policy and care for the environment are fundamental to our success.

TFC is committed to continuous improvement in our ethical performance through:

  • Demonstrating honesty, fairness and responsibility
  • Democratic participation and aiming for best practice
  • Transparency in our decision making and pricing
  • Purchasing food where practical from local producers and suppliers, ones that have positive social benefits, and/or a Fairtrade source
  • Avoiding suppliers that engage in unlawful practice and that violate human rights
  • Paying suppliers within the agreed term
  • Where possible choosing suppliers whose ingredients or products have a fixed cut-off date for animal testing

TFC is committed to continuous improvement in our environmental performance through:

  • Meeting all applicable legislation and regulation
  • Minimising environmental impact in all activities, including
    • Reduce waste through re-use
    • Recycling and purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable

TFC is committed to promoting efficient use of materials and resources through:

  • Promoting environmental awareness among staff, members and customers
  • Working with suppliers to apply environmental standards
  • Where practicable the preferential purchase of food to organic standards or similar
  • Where practicable choosing suppliers whose ingredients, products or packaging does not contain genetically modified organisms (GMO)
  • Encouraging the purchase of fresh, local, seasonal food

 Our policies can be reviewed at any time through the management committee by comments or queries raised by members or customers.
